6 Best Mattresses of 2024

Choosing the right mattress is crucial for a good night’s sleep and overall well-being. In this blog, I’ll be reviewing and ranking the best mattresses based on real user feedback and in-depth reviews to help you find the perfect fit for your needs.

1. Novilla Queen Size Mattress:

Helpful Review: Unrolling this mattress was a little confusing at first, since I had only dealt with traditional mattresses before & it was upside down after unrolling but wasn’t really difficult. I let it rest for the full 72 hours before so much as sitting on it, just to be extra sure that nothing went wrong & this mattress feels great. It feels very firm when you first lay on it, then you slowly feel your extremities (bottom, hips, etc.) slowly sink into the mattress but never too much. It remains firm, with just the right amount of give, in my opinion.

I bought this mattress because my previous, years old mattress had started to give me severe back problems. The difference wasn’t overnight but after about a week on this mattress, my back pains completely subsided and I get very restful sleep, now. This mattress is well worth it at this price point. Honestly, it feels as good as my sister’s expensive memory foam mattress, which was over 3 times the price.

2. Lucid 10 Inch Memory Foam Mattress:

Helpful Review: After sleeping on a firm spring mattress for most of my life (not comfortable), I decided it was time for a new mattress because I was not getting great sleep – mainly because of how hard the mattress felt. I hesitated about memory foam, but I gave it a shot anyway. After a few weeks, I have been getting significantly better sleep. I wake up feeling well-rested and less achy. It’s taken some getting used to the memory foam and not having any bounciness as a spring mattress, but I have no complaints about that.

Unpacking the mattress was pretty simple. It came vacuum compressed and rolled up in a box about 17 x 17 x 42 inches. It fully expanded after a day, but it was off-gassing pretty badly for a few days, requiring me to leave the window open for a few days.

My only complaint is the off-gassing, which faded slowly over a month and a half. I think it’s because I didn’t give the mattress enough time to fully air out and I live in a colder environment. I was finally able to let it air out all the way. I think the off-gassing taking so long was just an error on my end, not giving it more time to air out in the beginning.

3. Olee Sleep 10 Inch Support Cloud Hybrid Mattress:

Helpful Review: This may be long. We decided we wanted to try to upgrade from a queen sized bed to a king sized bed. My wife has degenerative discs in her lower back and experiences a lot of back pain. We have 2 small dogs that sleep with us. Just wasn’t enough room in the queen bed to allow her to get comfortable. So we wanted to try out a king sized bed on the cheap. We bought a used king sized bed that shockingly matches the rest of bedroom furniture. We read great reviews about this mattress. We got it. I opened it and let it decompress for a full week as the instructions stated.

The mattress seemed a little flimsy to me so I had serious doubts. We bought a metal box frame and assembled it so it could fit inside our bedframe. The metal box frames seems to give more support than the old wooden ones. We’ve been sleeping on the new mattress for 5 weeks now. I have to say we are shocked with the quality. It is firm every where except the very edges of the mattress. Very supportive. We both sleep much better than we were sleeping on our less than 5 year old orthopedic coil spring mattress. It really is comfortable.

My wife is able to sleep soundly on it rather than waking up every hour or two and then struggling to get back to sleep. Caveat. I do not think this mattress will last more than 5 years. I could be mistaken. However, at the price we paid, I will still be highly satisfied if it lasts even 4 years. We paid $1,500 for our last mattress and never slept well on it after a year. The mattress before that lasted 14 years (King Koil). I think all in we spent $1,000 including the bed frame, the box spring, mattress, sheets, pillow cases, pillows, blanket and comforter. Highly recommend the bamboo king sized pillows btw. Great for side sleepers or sleepers with neck pain. Don’t dismiss it because the mattress is so cheap. It’s great so far!

4. Sweetnight 10 Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress:

Helpful Review: I am very happy with my decision to purchase this mattress. I was, as most others are, hesitant to buy a mattress online. What convinced me to choose this one were the reviews about the great customer service. I’m here now to confirm that the customer service is excellent!

When I first purchased the mattress, I unzipped the cover to see the material inside the mattress. As I did this, the zipper on the cover broke. It unzipped more and more until it was completely unattached to the mattress. I contacted Sweetnight and they promptly responded, offering to send me a new cover, free of charge. So, the biggest issue I had with the mattress has since been resolved. Thanks Sweetnight!

The mattress itself is extremely high quality and I feel like I got the best possible bang for my buck. The mattress is reversible, so there is a firmer side, and a very plush side, which you do sink into more. I personally don’t like sinking into my mattress so I currently use the firmer side, with a very thin mattress pad on top to give a little more cushion to the firmness. (If you like a firm mattress, you won’t need to put a mattress pad on top.)

I’ve had this mattress for three months and I love it. I have such a comfy bed and I feel like I got a mattress worth at least double what I paid for it. I would definitely recommend buying from Sweetnight. I think it is the safest bet for buying a mattress on Amazon!

5. Kescas 10 Inch Hybrid Mattress:

Helpful Review: I purchased the 10” hybrid mattress w/ heavier coils and found it a good quality mattress. It is a very firm bed and has good edge support for a hybrid bed (i.e. when you sit on the edge, it doesn’t compress as much as other memory foam beds, though maybe not so much stiffness as a traditional coil mattress). While “firm” can be a subjective term, I’ve been on other beds called firm and considered them medium. This one I would definitely call firm. In the 3 months I have had it, the surface has maintained its form, with no sign of sagging after use by an average height/weight woman sleeping in the middle of the bed.

The only issue I have had is that I have back pain that isn’t alleviated with this bed, and I had hoped the added firmness would help with that. Everyone is different on what works for them, so this could just be the way my body responds to a hybrid bed. For the two years prior to this purchase I had a softer memory foam bed and that was worse because it had no support – hence the reason I purchased this one for the firmer bed with the added support of the heavier coils. I give it 5 stars because the description was accurate, quality was good for the price, it arrived quickly w/o hassle, and customer support was very responsive.

6. ZINUS 10 Inch Cooling Essential Foam Mattress:

Helpful Review: I ordered this mattress for my new apartment and wow! I am so pleased at its quality for the price! First of all, it *looks* very nice, clean, and had no chemical-y smell (after ordering a bunch of stuff on Amazon for my new apartment, that last thing was a very welcome surprise). It came rolled-up in a vacuum-sealed plastic pouch in a tall skinny box. (The box was very heavy to move, if that’s something you’re concerned about).

Once I cut open the plastic, the mattress inflated and boom! It was ready to use! The mattress is *quite* plush. (Maybe even too plush if that’s something you don’t like. The memory foam is very obviously there.) Still, it’s been quite comfortable during these first few days at my apartment and it totally beats sleeping on the floor. For the price, I’m very happy with how this mattress is working.

Considerations for Choosing the Right Mattress:

Sleeping Position: Consider your predominant sleeping posture (side, back, stomach).

Firmness Level: Choose a level that aligns with your comfort preference and body weight.

Mattress Type: Decide between innerspring, memory foam, latex, hybrid, or adjustable air mattresses.

Support and Alignment: Ensure the mattress supports proper spinal alignment and pressure points.

Temperature Regulation: Look for mattresses with cooling features if you sleep hot.

Allergies and Sensitivities: Opt for hypoallergenic materials to resist allergens.

Trial Period and Warranty: Choose mattresses with generous trial periods and warranties.

Budget: Set a realistic budget based on your financial capacity.

Delivery and Setup: Consider the convenience of delivery and setup, especially for compressed and boxed mattresses.

When choosing a mattress, consider your preferred sleeping position, firmness level, and any specific health considerations. Additionally, take advantage of trial periods and warranties offered by manufacturers to ensure satisfaction with your purchase. Ultimately, the best mattress for you is the one that provides the right balance of support, comfort, and durability for a restful night’s sleep.
